Project Overview
Trust Fall was contracted by 5D Scenic with enhancing the Celebrity Cruise Lines Feel The Funk show production by integrating dynamic LED elements into newly designed set pieces. The goal was to modernize the stage environment and improve visual flexibility, all within the given time and budget constraints.
Challenges
Rigging Limitations
The ship’s stage required the lightest possible products due to structural restrictions.
Logistics
Careful and precise coordination of fabrication, shipping, and the install team was required in order to meet the ship at a specific port and timeframe. Because of the constantly in-motion nature of cruise ships, this required the alignment of multiple schedules and vendors.
Intelligent Design
The set needed to be pre-fabricated into sections sized for transport in standard 53’ semi trailers. LED tiles also needed to be pre-populated for rapid deployment.
Technical Integration
The LED displays required precise tolerances to incorporate new banners and backdrop walls, along with integration with existing production elements.
Execution
Lightweight LED panels and smart video strips were selected to adhere to both the ship’s rigging constraints and for ease of set piece repositioning. The set was completely fabricated, built, and tested in our Las Vegas shop over the course of several weeks. The integration team alongside ship contractors installed and seamlessly integrated the LED screens into the main stage set piece and side banners during a port of call, ensuring precise alignment for maximum visual impact. A new turnkey media server was deployed for a comprehensive management solution, providing timecoded show control and video signal distribution.
Results
The improved stage visuals and eye-catching integration of the Direct View LED components led to client satisfaction. This modernization significantly enhanced the show’s aesthetics and provided crucial adaptability for incorporating future acts.
